Hand-carved spoons made in Erie, PA

American Quality-British Craftsmanship

Every spoon in this collection is carved by hand, one at a time, by me. There are no molds, no machines, and no two spoons exactly alike. I selects each piece of wood for its grain pattern, weight, and character — choosing only Pennsylvania and American hardwoods known for their durability and natural food-safety. Whether you're stirring a Sunday sauce or serving a holiday roast, a hand-carved spoon transforms an everyday act into something worth noticing.

For many years, I have dedicated myself to the art of spoon carving. All of my woodwork is done by skill of hand, using largely traditional tools. Every product in my shop is made from locally grown wood and hand-carved here in Erie, PA, USA.

My most recent additions are “Love Spoons”. Building on the Welsh tradition of making intricate spoons for a beau to give to his espoused lover or just as a delightful piece of hand-carved art work in wood.

WELSH LOVE SPOONS

A Welsh love spoon is one of the oldest and most personal tokens of affection in the world. The tradition began in Wales as far back as the 17th century, when a young man would carve an intricate wooden spoon and present it to the woman he wished to court. The care and skill he invested in the carving was itself the message: this is how much I value you. Every symbol cut into the wood — a heart, a chain link, a horseshoe, a Celtic knot — carried a meaning passed down through generations.

I carve each love spoon by hand using the same traditional tools and techniques, but from the finest American hardwoods I selects. Whether you are looking for a wedding gift, an anniversary keepsake, a Valentine's Day token, or simply something made with genuine care, a hand-carved love spoon is the kind of gift that gets kept for a lifetime — and often much longer.

Sustainability

Everything I make is from wood harvested locally in Erie. I rescue, repurpose and up-cycle all of my wood.

Not a single tree was cut down specifically for the making of Erie Woodcraft products.

Durability & Longevity

Care for your kitchen spoon

Always wash your kitchen spoons by hand. You can use a “3M” pad - this will just make the spoon smoother in the long run. It will, however, remove the protective coating.

Wipe your spoon with linseed oil/walnut oil from time to time. After a few years of use, it will obtain a natural protective coating.

Love spoons: Are not intended for use only for admiring and gifting.

Guarantee of Satisfaction

All my work is guaranteed to last and to be of the highest quality. If you are not satisfied, I will send you a replacement.
