Hand-Carved Cherry Wood Leaf Spoon | Erie Woodcraft

$30.00

Cherry wood is unique among the materials I work with for its ability to change. When you first receive this love spoon, it will glow with a warm pinkish-amber tone. Over the months and years that follow — as light falls on it and time passes — it will deepen into a rich reddish-brown that furniture makers call patina and everyone else simply calls beautiful.

I choose American black cherry for its moderate density — firm enough to hold carved detail with precision, fine-grained enough to give the finished piece a silky, refined feel. I work by hand using the same traditional tools, and finish with food-safe oil that enhances rather than masks the natural colour of the wood.
